Chapter 1: Pedro Pascal
How it all began:
Early last year I was rewatching The Mandalorian and doodling in my sketchbook when I decided it would be fun to draw Pedro Pascal (the actor who plays ‘The Mandalorian’, if you are not aware).
Unbeknownst to me this would become a phase, nay an obsession, which would take over my life.
One sketch turned into three sketches, then into ten, until suddenly, I had 40+ sketches of this fella.
My Tiktok Era:
During March I made myself accountable to the kind people on Tiktok and Instagram and posted a video every day of my drawing of Pedro. People seemed to enjoy this trend (which was lovely and flattering), and it was also a great way for me to document my progress. It was interesting AND exciting to see how my confidence grew with each sketch; I was able to capture not only the likeness of Pedro more quickly each day, but I was also technically becoming more proficient with my drawing.
How it’s going:
You would think that after a whole month of only drawing one person I’d get sick of it, but no - Pedro Pascal has become my comfort muse. Drawing him is like returning to a warm medical facility after being trapped outside overnight on the planet Hoth.
Can I pinpoint exactly why he has become my muse? I’m not sure.
Maybe it’s the brown eyes, or the scruffy hair. Or MAYBE, just maybe, it’s that scraggly mustache,
This is the way.
It’s scientifically proven by me that drawing Pedro Pascal everyday/on a regular basis reduces stress, increases artistic skill, and is just overall a really genius idea. I have no intention of stopping now or in the future. I encourage you to pick up a pencil and join me in this bewitchment.
